A few things that don't follow a plan

Hi Reader,

I've been thinking lately about how little life actually follows a plan.

Two pears from my garden reminded me of this. They grew on the same tree, about a foot apart, and yet they look remarkably different.

Meanwhile, my oldest daughter is back home after four years in Europe, I'm still teaching in the same San Francisco room I've been in for more than 20 years, and I've started adding freshly ground cardamom to my morning coffee.

These things may not seem to have much in common, but they've all been on my mind.

I wrote about them in this week's Weekly Musings — along with some thoughts about what we witness when we spend years working with people, and how we keep showing up for life even when we can't know what's ahead.

And if you drink coffee, there's a little cardamom experiment at the end that you might want to try.

With warmth,
Marisa

Rather than trying to change everything at once, we look at the patterns connecting what you are experiencing. We...
