Hi Reader, I hope this email finds you well! Are you familiar with the concept of DOSHA in Ayurveda? Dosha (Sanskrit: दोष) originating from Sanskrit, can be translated as "that which can cause problems". Ayurvedic medicine is based on the idea that everything here on Earth is made up of the five elements — earth, water, fire, air, and ether. A person’s unique ratio of the five elements defines their Ayurvedic constitution or Dosha. You can think of this as a blueprint to one's unique nature and a guide for how to heal and live well. The three fundamental doshas are:
And, if it sounds like all of those are you, don’t worry! Most of us are a mix. Understanding the balance of doshas unique to you is a bit of an art, and it can be challenging to see past our current imbalances. Balancing your doshas involves understanding your inherent nature and your current state of imbalance. The Ayurvedic remedies include a personalized diet, lifestyle adjustments, herbal medicines such as infused oils, tinctures, teas, and capsules, and a range of practices such as yoga, tongue scraping, meditation, and eye washing. Here are a few examples of how these remedies vary depending upon your dosha ~ Vata folks benefit from warming foods, Pitta individuals need cooling routines, and Kapha types thrive with varied food, activities, and environments. Do you know what dosha you are? Reply to this email, and I’ll send you a quick questionnaire that will reveal your dosha right away. Best, Marisa P.S. Need help with your dosha?
