Care for Others, Care for You: Join Me + 2 Nourishing Gifts to Try Today

Hi Reader,

With Mother’s Day approaching, I’ve been thinking about all the ways we give care to others, and hopefully, to ourselves. Whether you’re a mother, have one, or are someone who nurtures others (or yourself), I want to invite you to a special afternoon of connection, rest, and replenishment.

🌸Nourish: A Mother’s Day Partner Yoga + Self-Care Workshop
May 10th, 4-5:30 pm, 6th Avenue, San Francisco

**Everyone Welcome**

This gentle and heart-centered workshop is designed to honor the caregiver in all of us. Come with your mom, your child (young or grown), a dear friend, or solo, and we’ll pair you with someone there.

We’ll share:

  • A playful and supportive partner yoga practice (all levels welcome)

  • Deep relaxation with restorative postures

  • A guided self-abhyanga session (Ayurvedic self-oil massage with oil)

  • Nourishing Ayurvedic tea + snacks

  • A take-home jar of my handmade Ayurvedic massage oil

All you need is comfortable clothes, your mat (or get one at the studio), and an open heart. Come to give and receive.

But if you can’t make it—or want to start caring for yourself right now—here are two beautiful practices you can do at home:

🕯 Candlelight Restorative Yoga at Home

Take 30 minutes for yourself today. Put on cozy clothes, light a candle, and press play on this soft, grounding restorative yoga session I created just for you. It’s a moment of quiet, a moment of care.

🌿 Start a Simple Ayurvedic Ritual
This short video (less than 2 minutes!) introduces one of my favorite daily rituals—an easy way to connect to your body and start your day grounded. It’s something anyone can do. Watch it, try it, and consider subscribing to my YouTube channel. I’ll be posting more practices there soon.

Whether I see you on May 10th or you're quietly caring for yourself at home, I hope you find ways to nourish the part of you that gives so much to others.

With warmth,

Marisa

P.S. If someone special comes to mind, feel free to forward this email. Everyone is welcome.

Father’s Day reflection on aging, effort, and Ayurveda and karma

Hi Reader, Happy Wednesday! Father’s Day is next week. Don’t forget about your dad. Whatever kind of man he was— or is — understanding the influence he had on you can offer surprising clarity. David + Ingrid 2010 I don’t see my father often, but I do see him. He’s a man’s man with a domestic streak — keeps his house and car clean, cooks for himself (not just BBQ!), and still volunteers planting redwood saplings in the Sequoia National Forest. He turns 89 in a few days. Born in 1936, he’s...
