🍎Ayurveda Talk with Dinner This Friday~Yoga Nidra on Mondays~Final Apples 🍎

Hi Reader,

I’m excited to share three opportunities for connection—one for learning, one for deep rest, and one for collaboration:

🌿 Free Ayurveda Talk + Kitcheree Dinner
📅 This Friday, August 29
🕕 6:15–7:15 PM Pacific
📍 Folk SF, 286 Divisadero Street, San Francisco

Come enjoy a nourishing bowl of kitcheree (a classic Ayurvedic dish, learn more about this meal on my blog post here) while learning the foundations of Ayurveda—India’s ancient system of holistic living. You’ll also take a fun quiz to discover your dosha (mind-body type) and leave with simple, practical insights you can apply right away.

👉 Sign up here to attend my free talk on Ayurveda this Friday.

Yoga Nidra Mondays
📅 Every Monday
🕢 7:30–8:30 PM Pacific
📍 Folk SF (NOPA) + Livestream

Read my blog on Yoga Nidra for the full explanation, but the short info is that it is a guided, lying-down meditation—often called “yogic sleep”—that supports deep rest, nervous system repair, and intention-setting. No experience needed, just come as you are.

👉 Reserve your spot here
(Choose in person or virtual + the date + Marisa Toriggino as instructor)

💭 I’d love to hear from you!
What topics would feel most supportive for you right now? Are you struggling with sleep, digestion, or low energy? Or maybe feeling a bit unsettled or unsure about your direction?

I can share seasonal Ayurveda tips, simple daily practices (like self-massage or tongue scraping), and guidance on how yoga + Ayurveda can help with everyday challenges.

Just hit reply and let me know what would be most meaningful for your health and daily life—I’d love to create resources that truly support you.

With love and rest,
Marisa

P.S.
For those of you who’ve been enjoying apples from my tree at the San Francisco studios, the last of this season’s harvest has been picked (or fallen!) and I’ll be bringing them this Friday to the NOPA studio before the free talk. 🍎

In Ayurveda, gently cooked apples are especially balancing this time of year—they support digestion, calm excess heat, and bring a soothing, grounding quality as we shift seasons. These apples are wonderful baked into pies, simmered into oatmeal, or turned into homemade applesauce.

What a pot of marmalade can teach us about digestion, seasonal eating, and not overthinking our food.

Hi Reader, Right now, my kitchen smells like oranges and sugar and winter slowly turning toward spring. I’ve been spending pockets of time this week making marmalade from the orange tree at our home here in Northern California. The fruit is beautiful—and very tart. Not the kind you snack on casually, but exactly the kind that wants to become marmalade. There are rows of jars cooling on the counter (I’ll share a photo below), and as usual, something very ordinary has turned into a small...

how to eat for your dosha

Hi Reader, Hi everyone, As we move into a new season and a new year, I’m often reminded that food is one of the most powerful tools we have to support our health — not in a rigid or extreme way, but through simple, steady alignment with our own nature. In Ayurveda, we look at three primary constitutions, or doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Most of us are a blend, but we usually recognize one (or two) more clearly. Here’s a brief snapshot to help you tune in: VATA~If you tend to feel anxious,...
